Mac screen resolution problem.

Ihave a beige dt g3 (soon to be upgraded to a g4)and i use a sony trinitron (vga?) screen. In order to connect it to the mac i use some kind of adaptor thats sitting in the macs screen port. Here is my problem. I can't change the screen resolution. I can only choose 800something X 600something. That's too small a screen resolultion for me. Is there a workaround?

Try to get one of these older Mac-> VGA adaptors that do a kind of "autosensing" via the VGA bus, i had such once on my 7300 and it gave me at least the Macs standard resolutions in up to 75Hz on a standard VGA multisync Sony. You should get it at your local Mac dealer.

A different kind of adaptors is available too, they have 5 or 6 dip-switches on it and you can set certain resolutions by hand ( but you´re fixed at these). They are available at bigger radio/tv shops like Saturn/Mediamarkt or so. The one i had once was from "Freitag Elektronik" and i bought it at Mediamarkt. Dr.Bott had it also in their stock (http://www.drbott.com).

Hey Wolfgang. Thanks for your reply. I found the dipswitches. There are two rows with 8 (i think it was 8 ) in each. So now i'll just have to find out what the "code" for 1024 x 786 resolution are. Maybe there is a source on the net? I'll try and search for it.

Hey Micmac. After searching many hours on the net i took the adapter out and looked under it. There was the dipcodes, so now i'm running in my favorite screen resolution, but thanks anyway :D
