Hat jemand Erfahrung mit RME PCMCIA Lösung auf Powerbook und Logic? Vor einem Kauf sollte man sich doch informieren, ob da alles reibungslos läuft.

Ich betreibe ein multiface an einem Ti-Book. Läuft unglaublich stabil und problemlos. Es gibt ein kleines Problem mit der TiBook Serie 550/667 MHz. Michael Carstens von RME hat gestern abend dazu folgendes gepostet:
After receiving complains, that an activation of OMS on the Titanium
Powerbooks G4 550 MHz and 667 MHZ (256K on-chip level 2 cache, 1152 x
768 screen) will cause crackling in the played back audio, we examined
this effect using a 550 MHz model. According to our tests those models
have limited capabilities of handling interrupts beyond a certain speed.
That means interrupts that come more often as known from USB (one per
millisecond).
This is the case when using the HDSP with OMS. The highest number of
interrupts that can occur when receiving MIDI is about 3 per ms. If this
happens, sometimes the Powerbook's DMA controller deletes data which
should be sent to the HDSP. The HDSP will receive 32 samples of digital
zero, instead of the samples that should complete the transmitted
(audio) data. This of course sounds like clicks/crackling.
We are not aware of any other hardware that behaves this way, and we are
also not aware of any possible fix via a HDSP driver update.
Therefore we have to declare the Ti 550/667 models to be incompatible to
the HDSP's MIDI ports. Users which have both Ti 550/667 and HDSP, and
need MIDI I/O functionality, should consider to buy a third party MIDI
interface, or to change to the compatible 400/500 MHz models.
Note: The latest 667/800 MHz models (1 MB on-chip level 2 cache, 1280 x
854 screen) have not yet been tested by us.
