Mac OS X Bugs

Beitrag von Tim »

Wer hat Mac OS X 10.2 schon laufen?

Schon Bugs gefunden?

Mich würde mal interesieren ob der FireWire Bug bekoben wurde.

Spielt man einen Film in iMovie von einer FireWire Cam auf eine FireWire Festplatte, wird das Bild nach einigen Minuten blau.

Bugs

Carbon
- Carbon applications should obey settings in the General Preference Pane.

Classic
- Classic Applications should be aware of aqua elements, such as the dock.

Dock
- When using the Trash’s contextual menu to Empty Trash a warning should be displayed if the Trash warning option is selected in Finder Preferences.

Finder
- The desktop should automatically refresh, even when it is in the background.
- Help needs to load in a reasonable amount of time.
- Aqua elements should not leave behind artifacts.
- In List View, the keyboard shortcuts for expanding a folder should set the state of the view, once the window is closed.
- The Finder's Contextual menu in the Dock should have "Open New Finder Window" as an option
- The Finder should be able to auto-mount volumes.
- Partitions should be able to be mounted and unmounted individually, instead of having to mount or unmount the entire drive.
- When a user has read and write permissions and logs in correctly, both read and write permissions should be granted on the FTP volume, not just read.
- When a user mounts an FTP volume, it should automatically prompt for username and password information, instead of always logging in as "Anonymous".
- The entire desktop should not move when an icon is dragged to the left-most side of the screen.
- Option-double clicking a column "handle" should expand the column to its correct size.
- In column view, the preview pane sometimes lacks a vertical scroll widget and all contents of the pane cannot be seen unless the entire window is resized

Mail
- Fix problem in Jaguar where Mail improperly authenticates some SMTP servers, causing many users to not be able to send email via the Mail program!
- Address IMAP issues in Jaguar
- Fix Format menu's keyboard shortcuts for text alignment so they read [CMD] & [SHIFT] & Bracket, rather than [CMD] & Bracket, which does not work.
- Mail.app often asks for permissions to the Keychain, even though it already has the necessary permissions to access the Keychain.
- There should be a preference in Mail.app where the user can enter their HTTP Proxy's Address and Port.
- Font size settings should be made available for the tray view.
- Mail Folders should be called Folders, not Mailboxes as this may confuse some users, considering the icons that Apple has chosen to use to represent accounts and mailboxes.
- Mail should put 24-hour timestamps on messages, instead of AM-PM, when a user has chosen to use 24-hour time.

Mouse
- Mouse sensitivity should be able to be increased more than currently possible.
- Mouse scrolling should be consistent.

Sound
- Sound Input selection should not reset to default between reboots.
- Muting sound should mute all speakers, including subwoofers.

System Preference Panes
- Software Update should install the correct updates for your localization of the Operating System.
- Software Update should use checksum to confirm that an update that has been downloaded is not corrupt before installing.
- International Date & Time Settings should be applicable to the Date & Time Menu Bar.

Terminal
- Option-clicking the green expand button on a Terminal window should open the Terminal window to full size.

Window Behavior
- Some applications suddenly bring their windows to the front, even if they are not the front-most application.
- Windows should not open behind the dock, just as windows do not open behind the menubar.
- Resizing windows with "arrange by..." selected should properly display or hide the scrollbar.

Feature Requests

Dock
- The dock should support more than five contextual menus from folders.
- When placed in the dock, System Preferences should behave like a folder icon where a single click will launch the system preferences, but a control-click, click-hold or a right-click will show a contextual menu where one can click on an individual pane.
- An option should be added to include drives, removable media and servers in the dock.
- An option should be added to the Dock Preference Pane where you can choose applications that will auto-hide the dock.
- An option should be added to the Dock Preference Pane where you can choose which Applications that do not appear in the dock when the applicable Application is running.
- The user should be able to customize the dock like the toolbar to choose how groups of applications, documents, windows, URLs and folders are arranged.
- The dock should visually indicate which application is the front-most.
- The dock should visually indicate which applications are hidden.
- Springloaded folders should work in the dock.
- There should be a dock locking option, so that items cannot be removed from the dock accidentally.

Finder
- The Finder should use dynamic dock icons (such as those used in Mail) to indicate when tasks such as copying or transferring are complete.
- A user should be able to drag files into minimized Finder windows to move or copy them.
- The cursor should auto-snap to the default button whenever a dialogue box appears.
- The ability to Sort By Kind in column view should be added.
- The ability to print the contents of any window, including an iDisk should be added.
- A Tabbed window browsing feature should be added to the Finder.
- APIs to support command clicking and dragging should allow a user to rearrange tabs should be added.
- Springloaded folders should work on the back and forward buttons.
- The Finder should be able to handle directories with a large number of files more quickly. At this time, the speed is simply unacceptable.
- It should be possible to print the contents of Finder Windows.
- Classic Mac OS's "Labels" feature should be present in the OS X Finder.
- The Finder should be able to use a small icon set like Mail.app.
- The user should be able to adjust all Finder font sizes, including those in the Menu Bar, in window preview panes, etc.
- All Finder Windows should update as their contents change (like they do in OS 9), not just when the user clicks on them. For example, the size of files being downloaded should change continuously during the process.
- In column view, the time of the file's created should be shown, not just the date.
- Finder window toolbar icon size should be user adjustable.

Help Viewer
- The ability to use Command-right arrow and Command-left arrow to navigate back and forward should be added.
- The ability to use up and down arrows to scroll up and down should be added.
- The ability to copy text should be added.

Mail
- When Mail is received from a contact that is in the user's Address Book and has an image as part of their entry, the image should display in Mail.app.
- Mail should use Windows encoding (Base64/MIME) for sending and receiving email attachments.
- Mail should allow users to choose the character encoding for outgoing messages.

Mouse
- The Mouse prefpane should allow users to associate all additional mouse buttons with a function.
- An extensive list of functions should be provided for users to associate actions with.

Spell-checker
- The spell checker should be able to find corrections for misspelt words. At this time, it is very poor at finding corrections for only slightly misspelt words.

System Preference Panes
- Software Update should detect where Applications that need to be updated are located.
- Options that can be manipulated by TinkerTool should be incorporated into the System Preferences.
- A Preference Pane should be added that allows the user to edit the Apple Menu. This function should be built into the Operating System and not rely on third-party ‘hacks’.
- A maintenance panel that allows you to run scripts, optimize the system and the option to run file system check and repair all errors on startup should be added.

System-wide
- Open and Save dialogues should grant rapid access to all disks or networked computer, favorites and recent links, like in OS 9.
- Open and Save dialogues should reflect Finder settings such as font size.
- Open and Save dialogues should allow column resizing.
- Open and Save dialogues should jump to the appropriate area of the list when the first letter of a filename is pressed.
- Open and Save dialogues should allow the same sorting (by name date, size etc.)
- Typeahead should work in the open and save dialogues of Carbon applications, not just Cocoa.
- Open dialogs should always present a preview of pictures and other previewable files.
- The Find Feature should be accessible as a Menubar dropdown, so that opening a new Finder window is not required.
- The System Wide font should be customizable.
- Implementation of Gamepad and Joystick support.
- Implementation of support for multicard readers.
- Printing presets should be able to be named and saved.
